An afternoon that promises to ignore distances, bridge people and ideas, while imagining this new normal at Qreator and online, a space connecting creatives and creators alike.

Is creativity flourishing or contracting under quarantine and social distancing? What is the new creative currency? What is your idea worth when it’s all you’ve got? Creativity is entering a new, more nuanced era, while redefining its identity under new terms. Doing things that matter has never been more detrimental to the core of the creative self. Creativity is now almost a calling, and we’re here to preach this with our special 2nd episode guests.

//

New Times, New Ways series has a multidisciplinary approach. And we’re keeping it fresh, cool and meaningful with this 2nd episode focused on creativity and origins of ideas. TEDxBucharest becomes for this afternoon, a center for provocative thinking and meeting of creative minds. Our conversations will illustrate how ideas cannot be confined by lockdown or restrictions. Instead, creatives fight to regain legitimacy and become more refined day by day. Enter: more sophisticated techniques, tools and strategies that address the issues of the current times.

You don’t need to go to a far away location to help your kids fall in love with nature; a walk around the block can be enough, especially in these times of social distancing. Tech also doesn’t have to be the enemy. Instead, use it as a tool to enhance their awe, says science communicator Scott Sampson.

Over the past generation, we have witnessed a massive indoor migration. The average child now spends seven to ten hours a day gazing at screens and closer to seven minutes playing outdoors. This new reality has been labeled “the extinction of experience.” Abundant research demonstrates that indoor, sedentary lifestyles threaten the health of children and youth, with runaway rates of conditions like obesity, attention deficit disorder, and Type II diabetes. In contrast, unstructured outdoor play turns out to be critical for children’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Also threatened time are the places we live, with sustainability depending upon people understanding and caring about nearby nature. In this presentation, Scott Sampson offers three simple tools that any caregiver can use, starting today, for free, to connect the children in their lives with nature and reawaken a deep sense of amazement. Scott Sampson serves as President and CEO of Science World British Columbia in Vancouver, where much of his work focuses on rethinking and catalyzing the kind of education we need for the 21st Century. He is a dinosaur paleontologist and science communicator who has appeared in many television documentaries and served as science advisor for a variety of media projects. He has published numerous scientific and popular articles and authored multiple books, including “How to Raise a Wild Child: The Art and Science of Falling in Love with Nature”.

Happy June 1st, young TEDsters!

Introducing Annastiina Hinsta in this new Behind Metamorphosis Series episode. She is the one who knows how to offset high performance, holistic well-being and happiness. During her career, Annastiina has closely observed – and also personally experienced – the challenges relating to sustainable performance in an uncertain, high pressure, fast paced global context. After working in top management consulting and experiencing burnout, she was faced with profound questions of balance and meaning. She found answers in a transformation that involved running 250km ultra-races in deserts, and later joined Hintsa Performance as an entrepreneur, helping people unlock a life of meaning and sustainable high performance. She has worked with a clientele ranging from Formula 1 drivers to female entrepreneurs in rural Guatemala, top CEOs, and leading politicians. She speaks and facilitates workshops around the world, including hosting the Hintsa Performance session in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos 2018. She is particularly interested in what it will take for companies and individuals to thrive in the fourth industrial revolution, the role of women and millennials in shaping the future of work, and the business case for wellbeing. A better life leads to better performance. Hear her out!

Big thank you to Alexandru Agatinei for being the best Metamorphosis interviewer. Video crew: Dragos Ilie, Razvan Dascalescu, Mihai Chican.
