Ioana is an independent curator and General Director of The Bucharest Art Pavilion – Art Safari, as well as a jury member in the national competition held for selecting the project which represented Romania at the 58th edition of the International Art Exhibition, at the Biennale di Venezia. She is also the Vice-President of the Union of Fine Artists in Romania, and member of the Scientific Council of Cotroceni National Museum. Ioana was part of the Curatorium team who developed the bid for Bucharest 2021 – European Capital of Culture.
Ioana Ciocan is also the initiator and coordinator of a multitude of programs of art public spaces, has curated numerous exhibitions and is a well recognized lecturer at various conferences regarding Art in Public Spaces and Curatorial practice.
She published several books at Vellant publishing house, such as “a+b” (2016), “Transformation. Romanian Sculpture 25 Years After the Revolution” (2015) and “Proiect 1990 – Art in Public Spaces, Bucharest 2010-2014” (2014).
